Pubs, bars, clubs, hotel bars and specialist entertainment venues across Aberdeen have been given extra time to apply for Best Bar None accreditation, with the deadline now extended to Monday 31 August 2026.
The scheme works in partnership with the licensed trade to strengthen public safety, customer care and operational standards across Aberdeen’s night-time economy. It aims to support a safer, more welcoming and vibrant city centre for residents and visitors.
Councillor Martin Greig, culture spokesperson for Aberdeen City Council, said: “We saw just how many people were in our city centre watching the World Cup and enjoying the fantastic hospitality and atmosphere offered by our local businesses.
“The Best Bar None scheme will give venues the chance to showcase the work they are already doing to support a safe, welcoming and vibrant night-time economy. I hope all interested venues find out more about how they can get involved.”
Best Bar None gives licensed venues the opportunity to demonstrate that they meet recognised standards in areas including safety, security and customer care. Participating businesses can raise their profile as venues committed to providing safe nights out, while also accessing professional advice on community safety, crime reduction and business continuity.
Venues will also receive an inspection from a qualified assessor, designed to identify good practice and offer practical guidance across a range of operational issues.

I would urge as many venues as possible to be part of this scheme which will put them and their outstanding staff in the spotlight.

Businesses which take part will also be eligible to attend the Aberdeen Best Bar None awards ceremony. The top venue in each category will progress to the Best Bar None Scotland National Awards next year.
