Brewery giant Greene King is offering two of its long-standing Aberdeen establishments, The Wild Boar on Belmont Street and the Four Mile Inn in Bucksburn, for lease. This move is part of a broader strategy by the operator to optimise its extensive UK estate, which includes approximately 2,500 venues.
The company has announced plans to transition 150 of its managed sites to a leased or tenanted model, with a further 150 under evaluation for potential sale. A smaller number of sites, fewer than 2% of its managed estate, are also earmarked for outright closure. Greene King states this realignment is designed to enable “greater and more focused investment into the core portfolio” and ensure sustainable growth as consumer habits evolve.
The Wild Boar, located at 19 Belmont Street, is listed with an annual rent of £46,000, payable under a fixed three-year term agreement. Prospective operators would also face entry costs totalling £27,375. The pub boasts an estimated yearly turnover of £928,139.
The establishment’s listing describes it as an “exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality operator to take the reins,” highlighting its “significant growth potential”. Success is anticipated from “creating a distinctive offer” that can thrive in Aberdeen’s competitive city-centre market. The listing further notes: “The business already attracts a broad mix of families, shoppers, tourists, concertgoers and social groups, while its proximity to key city-centre attractions provides strong opportunities to increase footfall”.
The Wild Boar occupies a building originally constructed in the early 19th century, featuring distinctive architectural elements. The building was initially granted B-listed status before being reclassified as Category C in 2007.

Greene King believes the venue’s prime city-centre location and established customer base offer ample scope for growth under new management, particularly through maximising the downstairs space for events such as live sports or entertainment.
The company concluded: “With the right vision and operational expertise, this pub offers the chance to establish a standout hospitality business in one of Aberdeen’s busiest trading locations”.
Greene King continues to operate other venues in Aberdeen, including the recently revamped Old School House, Ma Cameron’s, and The Prince of Wales.
