FAMILY-owned distiller and distributor William Grant & Sons has appointed a new chief financial officer.

Giles Wilson will take on the role for the North Lanarkshire headquartered business from September 1 and will be based at Strathclyde Business Park.

Giles joins the company from John Menzies plc, an aviation services business based in Edinburgh. He was appointed as their chief executive officer in June 2019, prior to which he was the chief financial officer.

Simon Hunt, William Grant & Sons chief executive officer, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Giles into this important role.

“We look forward to benefitting from his extensive financial and international experience. Giles will help navigate our business through the ongoing coronavirus crisis and into the next phase of our growth as an independent family-owned business.”

Giles said: “I am excited to be joining such an established independent family-owned business.  These are uniquely difficult times, but I am really looking forward to contributing to the continued success of this dynamic business with such well-established global brands.”
