MASTERCHEF winner Jamie Scott is on course to feed the crowds at the inaugural pop-up Street Food Village at St Andrews West (13th to 17th July) to coincide with the 150th Open at St Andrews, as he eyes up a permanent location in the hotly anticipated development.

The Scottish culinary star is bringing his well-known food outlets Shipwreck Seafood Fife, Smoking Barrels and Cheese on Coast to the pop-up food village on the St Andrews West site, which will see a marquee for hospitality guests and a number of food vans serving the general public, including a flavour of what to expect from Storr.

With ambitions to further expand his foodie empire, Jamie is set to launch brand new business venture Storr, an expansion into the retail sector. Jamie is in exclusive talks for Storr to secure the Café at the St Andrews West Visitor Centre, and longer-term to take on the permanent grocery and eatery space within the much-anticipated St Andrews West development.

St Andrews West is a mixed-use development and will provide residential, health, retail, leisure, community, business, employment and education uses. This will all be within a carefully designed masterplan which provides substantial green open space and active travel routes. The New Madras College which is in St Andrews West was opened last August.

Joe Headon, St Andrews West LLP member, said: “After many years in the making, it is hugely exciting to see St Andrews West come alive, and what better time than during the 150th Open. With Jamie and his team, we hope to attract people with fresh and innovative ideas, marking the start of a new community at St Andrews West. We intend to create an exemplar development with sustainability and community at the heart of everything we do, and we very much look forward to working with Jamie and his team as we move forward with development.”

Jamie Scott said: “I’m passionate about bringing new opportunities to the area, and so being involved in this development is incredible. I’m thrilled to be able to create a food offering that works with local producers and will bring a completely new concept to the St Andrews West site.”

The Street Food Village is open from 12pm until late Wednesday 13th to Sunday 17th  July. There will be time restricted parking on site for people using the Food Village. However, St Andrews West is easily accessible by cycling and by foot through a number of different routes.
