Kapadokya is the creation of Ercan Ozmen, who said his vision was to share not only authentic Turkish dishes but also the warmth and hospitality that the cuisine is known for.

Aberdeen’s King Street has welcomed a new addition to its dining scene today with the official opening of Kapadokya, a restaurant bringing the rich flavours and cultural heritage of Turkey’s Cappadocia (English name for Kapadokya) region to the Granite City.

“I’ve always been passionate about sharing the food and traditions of my homeland, and I felt now was the right moment to bring something special to Aberdeen,” he explained. “With Kapadokya, I wanted to focus on the unique flavours of the Kapadokya region, which you don’t often see represented here. This gives people a real reason to visit us – an authentic experience that stands apart from the other Turkish restaurants in the city.”

The restaurant takes its name from Cappadocia, a region in central Turkey famed for its hot air balloons, cave dwellings and distinctive food culture. Ozmen said he wanted to capture that spirit in both the menu and the setting. “Our menu highlights dishes that are traditional to the region, prepared in a way that stays true to their roots. Beyond the food, the atmosphere of Kapadokya will reflect Turkish warmth and hospitality – the kind of place where people feel welcome to sit, share, and enjoy a meal together.”

“For me, authenticity is key, but so is making sure people feel comfortable and excited about what’s on their plate,” said Ozmen. “Some may want to try something completely new, others may prefer starting with familiar dishes and then branching out. We’re also mindful of value, which is why our dishes are designed to be generous, hearty, and perfect for sharing.”

Alongside familiar favourites, the Kapadokya Specials showcase the house dishes: Beyti, minced lamb or beef wrapped in flatbread and finished with yoghurt, garlic and butter sauces; İskender, sliced doner served over bread with a rich tomato‑yoghurt finish; Creamy Chicken with mushrooms in a garlic cream sauce; market‑fresh Sea Bass and Salmon, plus a Salmon Special in a creamy garlic sauce; and sizzling Fajitas in either Chicken or Halloumi. These plates sit beside a full meze line‑up and a set of Turkish casseroles for anyone keen to explore beyond the grill.

Kapadokya is open seven days a week, from 12–10pm Sunday to Thursday and 12–11pm on Fridays and Saturdays and is located at 176–178 King Street, . To mark the launch, the restaurant is offering 10% off all meals this week and next ending Sunday 31st , after which the Turkish cuisine establishment will offer 10% discounts available for students and blue light card holders.

Delivery is also expected to be available through Just Eat from next week. They are also hoping to offer a selection of hot drinks other than çay, in the next couple of weeks. For now they have range of cold drinks and çay for guests to enjoy.
