One of the region’s leading family-owned firms, SimpsInns, has been crowned ‘Hospitality and Tourism Business of the Year’ at the annual Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

Every year, the regional awards showcase Ayrshire’s greatest business achievements and recognise success. The ‘Hospitality and Tourism Business of the Year’ category celebrates excellence in Ayrshire’s hospitality and tourism sector.

The Irvine-based Simpson family is the driving force behind SimpsInns, which owns and operates a collection of award-winning hotels, restaurants, bars, spa, golf, and leisure activities along the Ayrshire coast, including The Gailes, The Waterside, and Loans Inn at Troon.

Malcolm Simpson from SimpsInns, said:

“We’re extremely proud to have been recognised once again as an industry leader for hospitality and tourism.

“As an Ayrshire family firm, it means so much to be showcasing the best of the region to our guests from across Scotland, the rest of the UK and beyond.

“This latest award success is thanks to the hard work of our amazing team, who continually go above and beyond to ensure every guest enjoys a fantastic experience with us and keep coming back.”

Malcolm added:

“Continued investment has been a key strategy for the growth of Simpsinns over the last three years, with over £4 million invested across the group. We’re committed to enhancing the quality of the guest experience across the group in 2026.”

SimpsInns has just opened a new 17-bedroom extension and enhanced wedding facilities at The Waterside Hotel in West Kilbride. The Waterside is also in the final stages of a new sea view spa development, including indoor relaxation area, sauna with sea views, steam room, spa lounge and large outdoor area with experience showers, fire pit and large hydro pool overlooking the beach. The new spa is expected to open to the public in early 2026.

SimpsInns has also just been named as a finalist in the ‘Family Business of the Year’ category at Scottish Licensed Trade News Awards.
