Family-run Scottish bakery Brownings the Bakers has expanded its partnership with Sainsbury’s, introducing three new traditional scone lines to selected stores across Scotland.

From this week, shoppers can pick up Brownings Tattie Scones (6-pack), Sultana Oven Scones (4-pack) and Cherry Oven Scones (4-pack), now available on shelves following their launch on Thursday 4 June.

The new additions build on the strong performance of Brownings’ existing morning goods and pie ranges within Sainsbury’s, which have proven popular with customers since first being introduced. The latest listings mark a further step in the growing relationship between the Kilmarnock-based bakery and the national retailer.

Managing Director Declan McMahon said the expansion reflects both customer demand and the success of the partnership to date.

“It’s fantastic to see our relationship with Sainsbury’s continue to grow, bringing more of the Brownings range to customers across Scotland,” he said. “Our morning goods and pies ranges have performed well in stores, so it’s great to see that success recognised and to be given the opportunity to expand our range further and build on that partnership.

“Our scones are a great example of what we do, made to traditional recipes and baked to deliver the quality and taste our customers expect from Brownings. From our classic tattie scones to our fruit varieties, these are products we’re incredibly proud of, and we’re delighted that even more shoppers will now be able to enjoy them as part of their everyday shop.”

Founded in Kilmarnock in 1945 and now in its fourth generation, Brownings the Bakers has built a reputation as one of Scotland’s best-known names in traditional baking. The business continues to combine time-honoured methods with modern production to supply both retail and foodservice customers across the country.
