Tourism and hospitality businesses in the North East now have until Monday 12 May at 5pm to enter

Tourism and hospitality businesses across the north-east are being given more time to enter the prestigious Aberdeen City and Shire Thistle Awards (ACSTA), with the deadline for entries now extended to Monday 12 May at 5pm.

The extension gives businesses and individuals an additional opportunity to showcase their commitment to excellence, responsible tourism, and innovation across a range of categories including MacRobert Trust Rising Star, Innovation, Community Tourism or Events Initiative, Individual of The Year and Best B & B or Guesthouse and ten further categories.

Stephen Gow, chairman of the Aberdeen City and Shire Thistle Awards, says,

“We know how busy our industry is, especially at this time of year, and we want to ensure that every deserving business and individual in the region has the chance to enter. By extending the deadline, we hope to give everyone that extra bit of time to pull together a compelling entry that reflects the outstanding quality of tourism and hospitality in Aberdeen City and Shire. The calibre of entries so far has been excellent and we’re looking forward to receiving even more before the final deadline.”

To support entrants in putting their best foot forward previous ACSTA judges have recorded a webinar giving top tips for writing a winning award entry. Presented by members of the committee who have judged across several categories over previous years, the video gives invaluable insight into what makes a standout submission – from structure and storytelling to the importance of evidence. The webinar is free to view and available now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/V63InBs0VWc

Entrants are encouraged to watch the webinar before submitting their entry, to make sure they understand exactly what the judges are looking for and how to make their application shine. The aim is to raise the overall quality of entries and help as many people as possible feel confident in putting themselves forward for recognition.

The Aberdeen City and Shire Thistle Awards celebrate the very best of the region’s tourism and hospitality sector. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony later this year, with regional champions going forward to represent the north-east at the national Scottish Thistle Awards.
