Fodilicious launches crowdfunding campaign for innovative low FODMAP energy drinks

06/11/2023

In an exciting venture that aims to revolutionise the energy drinks market, Scottish-based health food company Fodilicious has embarked on a crowdfunding campaign to introduce the world’s first low FODMAP energy drinks designed specifically for individuals with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and gut health concerns. Fodilicious is participating in a pioneering crowdfunding initiative launched by Women’s Enterprise Scotland, a platform dedicated to supporting female-led businesses, to raise funds for this innovative project.

Fodilicious, headquartered in Livingston, has been selected as one of the nine businesses to participate in the pilot crowdfunding round, supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). The company, led by Lauren Leisk, a postgraduate student at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, aims to bridge the gap for women entrepreneurs seeking financing to grow their businesses.

The inspiration behind Fodilicious’s venture lies in addressing the needs of the 1 in 4 people in the UK struggling with IBS. FODMAPs, trigger foods such as gluten, dairy, fruits, and sugars, often present in various products, can exacerbate IBS symptoms. Fodilicious has been at the forefront of providing solutions by offering the UK’s first low FODMAP certified, all-natural snacks, granola, and drinks suitable for IBS sufferers. Acknowledging the prevalent issue of sluggishness, a common symptom of IBS, Lauren set out to create the world’s first natural energy drinks range tailored for individuals with IBS.

The Fodilicious Energy Infusion Waters are meticulously crafted, low FODMAP certified per 250ml can, and packed with energising B vitamins. What sets these energy drinks apart is their suitability for individuals with IBS – they are zero calorie, zero sugar, and align perfectly with the Scottish Government’s health agenda, meeting HFSS (High in Fat, Salt, and Sugar) compliance standards.

Fodilicious’s crowdfunding campaign, running throughout November, aims to raise £10,000 to facilitate the first scalable manufacturing run of their revolutionary drinks range. The funds raised will enable Fodilicious to make their innovative drinks retail-ready, allowing people with IBS to access these gut-friendly beverages.

Expressing her excitement about the crowdfunding campaign, Lauren Leisk, the founder of Fodilicious, shared, “I’m so excited to participate in the pilot Crowdfunding campaign with Women’s Enterprise Scotland. Not only will it increase our brand exposure and hopefully allow us to raise funds for our first scalable drinks production, but most importantly, it will raise awareness of our core business values and why we started: to help people with IBS (25% of the UK) to access tummy-friendly products and contributes to solving the public health problem of IBS which costs our NHS over £45 million annually.”
