William Nicol, one of Aberdeen’s longest-standing names in transport, industrial, and engineering services, is hitting the road with a spirited new partnership alongside local craft legends, Fierce Beer. Together, they’ve unveiled ‘Mother Trucker’ – a bold beer crafted to honour 90 years of business, celebrate the trucking industry, and raise funds for charities close to the company’s heart.

The ‘Mother Trucker’ launch comes with both a unique beer and an exclusive line of branded merchandise, merging William Nicol’s proud history with Fierce Beer’s signature creativity. Profits from the sales will go entirely to charity: the Road Haulage Association (RHA) will benefit from merchandise proceeds, while beer sales will support Pickups for Peace – an organisation that assists humanitarian efforts through vehicle donations.

Managing Director Darren Nicol says the collaboration reflects both celebration and purpose.

“We’ve been in business for over 90 years and always felt that the work truckers do is often overlooked,” Nicol explains. “This is a way for us to celebrate the industry, but also do something meaningful by giving back to charities close to our heart. It’s a toast to the past, present, and future truckers for all their graft – while making sure we stay responsible behind the wheel!”

True to that message of responsibility, ‘Mother Trucker’ will also feature an alcohol-free version of the beer -ensuring that drivers and non-drinkers alike can join the festivities. The alcohol-free option underscores William Nicol’s commitment to safety, inclusivity, and mindful enjoyment.

The official unveiling takes place this weekend (Saturday 11th April) at Aberdeen’s Music Hall as part of the Northern Lights Aberdeen Beer Festival, where festival-goers can sample ‘Mother Trucker’ on draught and pick up limited-edition merchandise including hoodies, trucker caps, T-shirts, and even a miniature William Nicol model DAF truck.

For those unable to attend, products will be available online at www.williamnicol.co.uk/store and the beer via Fierce Beer’s website.

Fierce Beer’s Founder and Managing Director, Dave Grant, says the collaboration has been one to remember.

“Working with William Nicol has been a really fun journey for us,” Grant shares. “We love working with brands that have a strong legacy, and when we heard about their 90th anniversary, we knew we had to craft something special. ‘Mother Trucker’ isn’t just a great beer; it’s a way to give back to the community and support causes that matter.”

From the road to the taproom, ‘Mother Trucker’ is about more than great flavour – it’s about legacy, responsibility, and celebrating those who keep the wheels turning.

“Come for the beer, stay for the charity,” says Nicol. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone at the festival and raise a glass to 90 years of making tracks in the transport industry – with plenty of spirit and heart.”
