“To enable as many people as possible to make a bid we have listed ‘Bottle 1’ on the website of local auctioneers Murray’s, so that anyone with access to the internet will be able to bid for this unique, signed ‘number 1’ bottle of Refuge Manx Rum!

“The bottle will be beautifully presented in a custom-made commemorative wooden box, which includes a souvenir booklet detailing the Isle of Man’s role in the formation of the RNLI and the production story behind our Refuge Manx Rum.

“It features the stunning new label for Refuge Manx Rum designed by local artist Julia Ashby Smyth, and is also signed by her.”

The Fynoderee Distillery created Refuge Manx Rum to highlight the Manx origins of the RNLI and commemorate 200 years since its establishment by Sir William Hillary.

The Ramsey-based distillery aged 11 quarter-casks of scratch-made Manx Rum inside the iconic Tower of Refuge for one year during the RNLI bicentenary year.

Having weathered a year at sea on Conister Rock within the Tower, the rum has now returned to shore, where it will be bottled, labelled and individually numbered at the distillery. For every bottle sold, 20% of the proceeds will be donated to the RNLI.

Only 2,500 bottles are available for purchase, with ‘Bottle 200’ being donated to and retained by the RNLI for their national archive.Fermented and distilled by the Fynoderee Distillery using organic Colombian panela, Refuge Manx Rum is described as a light amber rum that is naturally coloured and non-chill-filtered.

Rich and smooth, it is imbued with the historic maritime atmosphere of the Tower, boasting notes of toasted oak, vanilla, salted caramel and bourbon.

Apart from Bottles 1 and 200, the remaining Limited Batch of Refuge Manx Rum can now be ordered from www.fynoderee.com.

For each bottle purchased, 20% of the sale price will be donated to the RNLI.
