Glasgow Wine Club Uncorks Summer Wine Fair

02/07/2024

The Glasgow Wine Club is set to host a series of wine-tasting events throughout the year, its main focus is on making wine-tasting more accessible and less intimidating for enthusiasts of all levels.

Typically, one event is held per quarter, featuring a brief presentation of six wines to a group of around 30 people.

Attendees are encouraged to discuss their preferences and tasting notes with others at their tables, fostering a communal and educational atmosphere.

The events attract a diverse mix of participants, from seasoned wine connoisseurs to complete beginners creating a dynamic environment where individuals can learn from one another without the pressure of right or wrong answers.

The club emphasises a relaxed and enjoyable experience, welcoming all members and ensuring that the focus remains on fun rather than expertise.

This approach has been well-received, with the club growing from 10 attendees at initial tastings to consistently selling out recent events.

Building on this success, the club plans to host a larger event in the Art Club’s grand hall, inviting independent shops, producers, and suppliers to participate.

This event will feature mini-presentations from these suppliers, allowing attendees to sample a variety of wines, explore the art on display, and enjoy food from catering stalls.

Upon entry, guests will receive a bespoke brochure detailing the available wines, encouraging them to take notes and potentially place orders for their favourites.

In addition to the wine and art, the event aims to enhance the experience with live music and possibly a live art demonstration, pending confirmation.

This summer festival will celebrate the collaboration between the Wine Club and Art Club, highlighting the best of Glasgow’s local suppliers and creating a unique, enjoyable event for all attendees.

The event will take place on 24 August and is split over 2 sessions, 12-14:30 and 15:30-18:00.

Tickets for the Summer Wine Fair Session 1 and Session 2.
