Drinks start-up Lonkero takes UK summer by storm with their eccentric pint-sized draught of gin, grapefruit and botanicals.

Lonkero launches for the first time, bringing the refreshing taste of Finland to the UK. A delightfully crisp and zingy draught of gin, grapefruit, soda, lime, a pinch of pine, and botanicals, the serve is available online in six-packs or dozen-packs and on draught in popular Edinburgh and London bars.

Offering a pint-sized alternative to beer or cider, the long, spirit-based serve is described as a ‘full-frontal Finnish experience’. It is aimed at festival-goers, summer garden parties, and those who fancy a refreshing change from the norm.

Right off the bat, Lonkero won ‘In-Drinks Best New Alcohol Drinks Start Up 2024’, secured a partnership to sponsor Edinburgh Street Food’s outdoor cinema, and gained listings at the likes of Scottish capital favourite Teuchters Landing as well as at popular Fringe Festival venue, Summerhall.

Lonkero is a brand of Finnish Long Drink, the national drink of Finland.

Inspired by Finland’s eccentricity and the love of the outdoors, the brand’s name translates to ‘long drink’ in Finnish. At 5.5% ABV, it’s ideal as a one-off refresher or for sipping during a session.

A light & zesty thirst-quencher, best enjoyed in ice-topped pints or ice-cold cans – ‘always among friends & sometimes with your pants off’.

The Finnish Long Drink dates back to the Summer of 1952, as the world’s sports fans descended onto Finland for the Olympic Games.

The hosting nation decided that alcohol would keep the visitors entertained and the serve was born. A refreshingly long, fast to serve, gin-based drink with grapefruit & soda water.

Joe Harris, Co-founder & Director of Lonkero, said: “We are delighted with the launch of our brand Lonkero, or as we like to call it ‘The Long Finnish’.

“We spotted a gap in the market for consumers who seek a pint-sized, refreshing alternative to beer or cider.

“We knew we had something special with Lonkero, but to see this support from venues, partners, and customers is incredible.

“Our team can’t wait to see the Lonkero word spread across the UK this summer!”
