Aldi shoppers will soon enjoy a wider selection of baked goods from Scottish family bakers, Murdoch Allan, following a contract extension. The deal has also created six new jobs at the Aberdeenshire headquarters in Hatton.

Thanks to customer demand, Aldi has added the popular Aberdeenshire baker’s Pineapple Danish and Caramel Custard to its already extensive offering. Murdoch Allan is also now white labelling its rolls for the national supermarket.

The supermarket, which was named the UK’s cheapest in 2024, already supplies customers with the Aberdeen Buttery, tattie scones, strawberry tarts, burger rolls, and all-butter shortbread rounds, to name a few.

Paul Allan, Managing Director at Murdoch Allan, said: “It is an exciting time for the business with the extension of our partnership with Aldi and further deals to be announced in the coming months. This milestone reflects the strong relationships we have built with the retailer and highlights the quality and popularity of our baked goods.

“We are committed to providing customers across Scotland with our characterful baked goods and supplying additional products to Aldi will help us achieve this. We look forward to delighting Aldi’s customers with even more delicious goods, baked right here in Scotland.”

The deal with Aldi is just part of a larger growth drive for the north east’s favourite baker. Building on its strong local reputation and commitment to quality, the family-run business is actively expanding its reach and capabilities across several fronts. Murdoch Allan has further contract extensions in the pipeline and is investing in new product development.

Paul added: “This year is all about pushing the business to the next level and it’s thanks to our amazing customers and suppliers that we’re able to explore these opportunities. We have lots of exciting projects lined up for the rest of the year that we can’t wait to share.”

Murdoch Allan has bakery shops across Aberdeenshire in Hatton, Peterhead, Turriff, Fraserburgh, Mintlaw, and Thains in Aberdeen. It also supplies most of Scotland’s top supermarkets, including Aldi, Asda, Co-Op Locals, Lidl, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s.
