Scotty Brand, producers of wholesome homegrown foods, have entered into the snack category with the launch of Beetroot Crisps, in homage to the brand’s founder.
Beetroot was the inspiration behind the launch of Scotty Brand over seven decades ago, when Albert Bartlett invested £30 in a tin bathtub to boil locally-grown beetroot in his garden shed in Scotland’s Coatbridge, to earn extra income to support his growing family.
Available in Scotland, the Beetroot Crisps range includes three different flavours based on consumer research and flavour trends: Thai Sweet Chilli, Lime & Coriander and Cheese & Onion in 84g bags, with stylish, contemporary packaging and perfect for sharing. Thai Sweet Chilli will hit Scotland-wide Morrisons stores in June.
Made with UK-grown beetroot, the crisps meet upcoming HFSS* legislation and deliver a unique wholesome flavour profile, with fewer calories (112 per serving) while not compromising on taste or quality.
Andrew Young at Scotty Brand, Brand Development Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to launch into the snacking category with a product that takes our company back to its roots in beetroot. By harnessing a wholesome vegetable with exciting flavours, we hope to appeal to the more health-conscious consumer who is looking for a snacking treat that hits the mark.”
As part of the brand’s overall commitment to sustainability, the manufacturing process adopts a zero food waste approach to ensure that every part of the vegetable is used. The growers are also partnered with LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) to support sustainable agricultural practices.
The available flavours are:
· Thai Sweet Chilli – the perfect blend of Thai-inspired spices and the earthy sweetness of beetroot.
· Cheese & Onion – combines the tangy richness of cheese and the savoury kick of onion with the natural sweetness of beetroot.
· Lime & Coriander – the wholesome heartiness and sweetness of beetroot complements the delicious sharp, mouth-watering blend of lime and coriander.
