A Fife whisky bottler is celebrating after its recent gold-medal success was recognised by the Scottish Parliament.
Newburgh-based Spiritfilled saw its Mythical Beasts label earn international acclaim at the International Wine & Spirit Competition, with an Aberlour 13-year-old single malt finished in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask scoring 98 points and being named among the world’s best.
The whisky was one of nearly 550 Scotch expressions recognised at the London awards, but only six received the competition’s highest marks this year, placing Spiritfilled’s release among the elite single malts on the market. The brand’s Gold Outstanding result has since been marked at Holyrood, where local MSP Claire Baker lodged a motion that gained cross-party support.

Co-founders Russell Spratley and Ross Archer said the recognition was a major highlight in the business’s journey so far, particularly as the Aberlour was one of five single malts launched to mark the fifth anniversary of Mythical Beasts. They said the parliamentary motion was an “incredible honour” and thanked Claire Baker MSP for acknowledging the team’s work.
