Former Stockbridge favourite Ping On returned to its original home for one night only as Sotto celebrated its second birthday, raising more than £4,000 for Dementia UK.
The event on Sunday 4 October saw the Italian trattoria and enoteca recreate the much-loved Cantonese restaurant, welcoming former Ping On customers alongside Sotto regulars.
Ping On first opened in Stockbridge in 1968 under the ownership of Kenny Mak and became a firm favourite with generations of Edinburgh locals over its 56-year history.

Sotto opened in the restaurant’s former premises in 2024, transforming the space into an Italian trattoria and enoteca.
To mark its second anniversary, Sotto owner James Clark brought Ping On back for an evening, with the team temporarily swapping Italian cooking for dishes that had helped make its predecessor a Stockbridge institution.
