The Black Bull in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket has been confirmed as Edinburgh Rugby’s official away hub for the 2026/27 season, extending the venue’s partnership with the club for a third year.

The sports bar, part of Edinburgh-based hospitality business Signature Group, will aim to bring the match-day atmosphere of Hive Stadium into the city centre whenever Edinburgh Rugby is playing away from home.

Located at 12 Grassmarket, The Black Bull can accommodate up to 260 guests and features eight high-definition sports screens, giving supporters a central place to follow the team throughout the season.

As part of the renewed agreement, fans can expect player appearances, special Q&A events and an Edinburgh Rugby-inspired food menu. New dishes include the Ruck & Roll Spice Bag, The Tartan Trophy Pie and The Full Back Burger.

Edinburgh Rugby season ticket holders will receive 20 per cent off their total bill at The Black Bull at any time, while all Edinburgh Rugby supporters can claim 20 per cent off on match days.

Alaan Lavety, deputy general manager at The Black Bull, said: “We’re really excited to be teaming up with Edinburgh Rugby as their official away hub once again.

“We’re aiming to recreate the buzz of Hive Stadium in the Grassmarket, where we’ll be celebrating all things Edinburgh Rugby. Expect player appearances and special Q&A events, as well as our new themed menu, including the Ruck & Roll Spice Bag, The Tartan Trophy Pie, and The Full Back Burger.

“If The Black Bull knows one thing, it’s sport. We have eight high-definition sports TV screens across the venue and show all the biggest games for rugby fans to enjoy. You focus on the game, and we’ll keep you fuelled with some tasty grub and a pint of our own locally brewed beer.”

Edinburgh Rugby wing Wes Goosen is fronting the renewed partnership for the 2026/27 campaign. He said the venue had become a familiar base for the club’s supporters over the past year.

“Edinburgh Rugby has enjoyed a fantastic long-standing relationship with Signature Group across several of its city centre venues,” he said.

“The Black Bull has become a second home for us over the past year, so we couldn’t be happier to continue making it our official away hub for our supporters into autumn 2026 and spring 2027.

“The Black Bull is undoubtedly one of the best sports bars in the city. It’s the perfect place to recreate that unique Hive Stadium atmosphere when the team is playing on the road.”

To mark the start of the season, The Black Bull will host pre-match parties ahead of Edinburgh Rugby’s home fixtures against DHL Stormers on 2 October and RC Toulon on 16 October.

Tickets cost £15 per person and include a pint of Cold Town Beer or Murphy’s, a meal from The Black Bull buffet, and travel on a private 30-seat coach from the Grassmarket to Hive Stadium.

Tickets for the 2 October event are available through OpenTable, while tickets for the 16 October event can be booked here.

Signature Group has worked with Edinburgh Rugby across a number of its city-centre venues for several years, including Kyloe, The Queens Arms and Cold Town House.
