As part of its thirtieth birthday celebrations, The Fat Duck is honoured to host legendary winemaker Angelo Gaja of GAJA wines for an incredible evening of fine dining and iconic wines in partnership with GAJA Vineyards.
On 11 March Angelo, hailed as “the undisputed king of Barbaresco” and “the man who brought Piedmont into the modern world”, and his son Giovanni Gaja will guide guests through a curated selection of exceptional wines.
Paired with a Fat Duck bespoke menu, this event will showcase the superlative complexity and depth of flavour of this justifiably renowned vineyard, featuring rare selections meticulously collected by the restaurant over the decades.
The Fat Duck founder Heston Blumenthal OBE said: “Creating a menu that pairs beautifully with the wonderful wines from GAJA has been an honour and a stimulating challenge for my chefs that has really got their imagination going.
“Designing dishes that perfectly complement Barbaresco’s intense aromas of liquorice, balsamic, tar and smoke has been an absolute joy, and we look forward to what promises to be a spectacular evening.”
The Fat Duck’s Head Sommelier, Melania Bellisini, said: “Angelo Gaja is one of the most widely revered and beloved figures of Italian wine and he has transformed the reputation of Barbaresco on the global stage.
“GAJA offers some of the most legendary, sought-after wines in the world, and we are delighted to share our incredible collection with guests this March.”
