In a significant move within the spirits industry, William Grant & Sons has officially announced its acquisition of The Famous Grouse and Naked Malt brands from The 1887 Company.

This strategic purchase not only enhances William Grant & Sons’ already impressive portfolio of whiskies and spirits but also marks a notable expansion into the blended whisky segment.

Founded in 1896 in Perthshire, Scotland, The Famous Grouse is a highly regarded blended whisky known for its quality and rich heritage.

With over 125 years of history, the brand has established itself as a favorite among whisky enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike.

The acquisition aligns perfectly with William Grant & Sons’ mission to nurture and grow iconic brands that embody excellence in craftsmanship and flavor.

A spokesperson for William Grant & Sons expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating: “Having been around for over 125 years, The Famous Grouse has a rich history and would be a significant addition to our portfolio.

“The brand has potential for innovation and international growth in a number of markets, and we’re excited about what the future holds.”

The acquisition, however, is still pending customary regulatory approvals, including clearance from the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority.

Once finalised, this deal is expected to bolster William Grant & Sons’ position in the global spirits market and provide new opportunities for The Famous Grouse to innovate and expand its reach in various international markets.

As the spirits landscape continues to evolve, this acquisition signifies not only growth for William Grant & Sons but also an exciting chapter for The Famous Grouse and Naked Malt as they transition into this new era under experienced stewardship.

The future appears promising for these storied brands, with a wealth of opportunities on the horizon.
