With “Dry January” well under way, SOBR Bar, Scotland’s first alcohol free bar, situated in Aberdeen’s Thistle Street, has announced that it’s commenced an exciting Radio campaign with both Bauer Media’s Northsound 1Radio, and STV Radio.

Keen to further monopolise on what has been a very vibrant start to its business life, with Aberdonians proving that they do want to embrace a night out without alcohol, SOBR Bar’s campaign with Northsound1 will offer listeners a chance to go online and win an alcohol free cocktail masterclass for six people.

It’s one of a number of interactive experiences that SOBR will be offering customers in 2026, including alcohol free wine & cheese pairings, showcasing cheese from local cheesemongers, and lively “talks at the bar” which will explore and celebrate a growing acceptance of sobriety.

Launched in October last year, SOBR Bar has established itself as a modern, social space, suitable for private events, such as baby showers. It has a strong offer for the corporate sector too, delivering catering and alcohol free drink services ideal for well-being days, workshops, receptions and launches. The company’s positive, mindful culture has already proved a good fit with a number of local businesses.

SOBR’s Aberdeen based owner and entrepreneur, Kate Kenyon, explained that she was extremely pleased to be teaming up with two of the country’s premier radio stations at this time: “As the North-East of Scotland’s premier radio station, we decided to embark on a campaign with Northsound 1, supported with an additional campaign with STV Radio. With Dry January taking place, there’s no better time to put alcohol free choices in the spotlight. We wanted to spread awareness of our specially curated zero proof cocktails, craft beers and unique wines, all served in the most supportive, and fully inclusive, environment.”

“With many people, from all sorts of backgrounds and circumstances, trying to stick to Dry January, SOBR makes it easier for them, as you really don’t miss the alcohol in our drinks,” continued Kate.

“We look forward to seeing how many people enter the Northsound 1 competition, we hope it will attract a lot of interest, and that the winner will enjoy their unique masterclass experience,” she said.

SOBR’S “Talks at the Bar” Series will be starting shortly, with absorbing personal testimony from a number of locally based instagrammers and social commentators who now embrace a life of sobriety. These include Ellon mum, Jade Auld (@scottishandsober), who will talk at SOBR on Friday 23rd January. Her alcohol free life has seen her amass 13,000 instagram followers.

Other guest speakers lined up to appear at SOBR in the coming months include Mlikey Banks and Sarah Rochester.

“There’s plenty going on at SOBR,” finished Kate. “Please keep an eye on our social channels to find out more.”
