Kinross-shire destination transforms for six-week festive experience this Christmas.

Loch Leven’s Larder in Kinross-shire has announced plans to transform its premises into an Alpine Village experience, complete with a custom-built inflatable curling rink, for the Christmas season. The popular farm shop, deli, gift shop, and café will offer a fully immersive, six-week-long Alpine experience from Friday 13th November through to Christmas Eve, bringing a mountain-inspired atmosphere to Scotland.

Guests will find a range of attractions, including warming drinks, Swiss and Scottish sharing platters, and fondue. The Alpine Village will also feature an Alpine Bar, a Silent Disco, and a German Beer Festival.

For those seeking a more private setting, cosy and beautifully styled Alpine Lodges will be available. These lodges are designed to host Christmas parties, family gatherings, celebrations, corporate entertaining, and groups of friends.

Adding a Scottish element to the Alpine theme, an inflatable curling rink will be installed in the Larder grounds. This provides visitors with an opportunity to try the classic Scottish winter pastime, a passion for business owners Rob and Emma Niven.

Emma Niven stated, “The run up to Christmas at Loch Leven’s Larder is going to be incredible this year. We are beyond thrilled to announce that we are introducing something completely new and exciting, a six week long, fully immersive Alpine Experience which has something for everyone, whether it’s dancing to live music, putting on the headphones for a Silent Disco, enjoying the atmosphere of a German Beer Festival, settling into an Alpine Lodge, or, something we are particularly pleased to see come to The Larder, trying your hand at curling.”

Emma added that the Alpine Curling, which will be fully bookable across a variety of daytime and evening slots, is an additional entertainment option expected to be very popular. She noted it would be easy for guests to combine friendly competition with dining, drinks, and the wider Alpine experience.

Rob Niven, a fifth-generation curler and current World Curling Board Executive Director, is keen to promote the ancient Scottish winter sport. Emma Niven explained, “Having visited Alpine countries many times on curling trips, we figured that we could bring something to our family business this Christmas that combined our love of the Alps, with its charming festive traditions, and delicious food & drink, with our love of curling, all with a traditional Scottish twist!”

During the day, the Alpine Experience will serve as an extension of the café, offering Alpine-inspired dishes, warming drinks, festive bakes, and seasonal treats from morning through to afternoon. Alpine Evenings will run on Fridays and Saturdays, with the Alpine Bar serving specially curated cocktails and drinks, alongside sharing platters and fondue.

“We’ll share plenty of details on our dedicated Alpine Entertainment Programme, which will run at weekends, so that guests can plan their perfect winter night out and book into a variety of special evenings throughout the season,” said Emma Niven. She also noted that the private Alpine Lodges offer potential for corporate bookings.

Emma, known for her interior design and floral artistry, teased visitors with a description of the anticipated atmosphere: “Think snow-covered mountain villages, long wooden tables, candlelight, twinkling lights and the unmistakable feeling of coming in from the cold to something delicious and welcoming! It will all be waiting for you this Christmas at Loch Leven’s Larder.”

Further details and booking information will be available via the Loch Leven’s Larder website.
