Festive afternoon tea, wreath workshop and private dining on offer at Edinburgh’s Port of Leith

Fingal, the floating hotel permanently berthed in Edinburgh’s Port of Leith, is adding festive experiences for Christmas and Hogmanay, including a new festive afternoon tea, a Christmas wreath workshop, festive private dining and a Hogmanay celebration, the company said.

Fingal’s Festive Afternoon Tea runs from 12pm to 3.30pm daily between 18th November 2026 and 3rd January 2027, served in the ship’s Lighthouse Restaurant. The galley team has created the menu for guests and non-residents, featuring savoury bites, buttermilk scones and sweet delicacies. It is priced at £65 per person, or from £80 per person for the Champagne Afternoon Tea, with advance reservation required via www.fingal.co.uk/christmas-hogmanay/festive-afternoon-tea.

A Christmas Wreath Workshop takes place in Fingal’s Ballroom on Sunday 6th December, with sessions at 10.30am and 1pm. Described by the company as having “an eco-friendly touch”, the workshop guides guests through decorating a locally sourced wreath with fresh foliage and sustainable decorations. Guests are welcomed with tea or coffee on arrival and the session ends with mulled wine and a mince pie. The workshop costs £75 per person, with pre-booking required via www.fingal.co.uk/christmas-hogmanay/christmas-wreath-workshop.

Fingal’s Lighthouse Restaurant & Bar offers private dining booths for small pre-booked groups throughout the festive period, open to residents and non-residents. Festive private dining for up to 60 guests is also available in Fingal’s ballroom. A gift voucher for Fingal is also available.

The Lighthouse Restaurant holds two AA rosettes for culinary excellence, according to the release. Fingal has 23 luxury cabins, each named after Stevenson lighthouses, reflecting the ship’s maritime heritage. The hotel relaunched in 2019 in the former Northern Lighthouse Board tender, and is owned and operated by the team at The Royal Yacht Britannia, located ten minutes away.

The company said Fingal has been named both Europe’s Leading Boutique Hotel and Scotland’s Leading Boutique Hotel at the World Travel Awards 2026, with winners voted for by travel industry professionals and the travelling public. According to the release, the World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to celebrate excellence across the global travel, tourism and hospitality sectors.

Fingal is located opposite the Port of Leith tram stop, which the company said provides a transport link between Leith, Edinburgh city centre and Edinburgh Airport. Further information on Fingal’s festive experiences and packages is available at www.fingal.co.uk/christmas-hogmanay.
