New cocktail collection features Scottish folklore and handcrafted elements.
Bar Prince at The Balmoral has launched its new cocktail menu, Mythical Legends, following the success of its Connected Icons collection. The new menu draws inspiration from Scotland’s folklore and ancient tales, transforming legendary creatures and stories into an immersive cocktail experience this autumn.
The collection celebrates Scottish legends such as unicorns, selkies, witches, dragons, and kelpies. Head Bartender Mattia Rovaris oversees the menu, with each signature cocktail individually created by Bar Prince’s mixologists, each offering a connection to Scotland’s mythical heritage. Guests are invited to discover the inspiration behind each creation.
The Mythical Legends theme extends to bespoke illustrations that bring each character to life, transforming the menu into a contemporary storybook. Each copy has been handcrafted by Edinburgh’s Crawford Bookbinders, using traditional techniques. A bespoke Mythical Legends Scent Mist further enhances the experience, blending notes of cedarwood, chamomile, sandalwood with Scots pine, citrus, and warming spice, inspired by Scotland’s ancient forests and lochs.
Highlights from the menu include The Untamed One, a tribute to Scotland’s national animal, the unicorn, combining Scottish vodka with coconut water, white chocolate, banana, and lime leaf. Double Identity, inspired by the selkie’s dual existence, reinterprets the whisky sour with coastal Scotch whisky, honey, citrus, and spice.

Mattia Rovaris, Head Bartender at Bar Prince, said: “Building on the success of Connected Icons, Mythical Legends gave our team the opportunity to tell a new chapter of Scotland’s story through the lens of folklore. Each cocktail has been created by a different member of the bar team, making the menu a true collective of ideas, creativity and personal interpretation. Paired with bespoke illustrations and scent, we’ve created an experience that invites guests to discover something new with every serve.”
Mythical Legends is an invitation to explore Scotland’s legendary past through flavour, artistry, and imagination, continuing Bar Prince’s commitment to cocktail storytelling. The menu launches this autumn. More information and reservations can be found at the Rocco Forte Hotels website.
