Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks is back this month with almost 80 venues taking part, including several of the Granite City’s best-known restaurants joining the event for the first time. Running from Monday, August 24 to Sunday, September 6, the Foodie Fortnight will showcase a wide mix of dining experiences, from casual lunches and set dinners to tasting menus and special events.

The full line-up is now live, with debut participants including Tarragon by Graham Mitchell, Tarragon On The Terrace, The Chester Hotel and Yorokobi by CJ. They are joined by first-time entrants such as O’Malley’s, Irmak Restaurant, Casa Del Fuego, Jungle Berry, Pizza Express at Union Square and McDonald’s on Union Street.

Returning favourites including Amarone, 8848 Restaurant, 210 Bistro, Gio’s by La Lombarda, Maggie’s Grill, Mi Amore and Molly’s Bistro will also be on the menu. Diners can expect special lunch and dinner offers ranging from £10 to £35, alongside a choice of curated à la carte and tasting menus.

Industry backing

Those joining for the first time say the event offers an important boost for Aberdeen’s hospitality sector, as well as a chance to welcome new customers through the door.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “The return of Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks is a delicious treat for everyone who takes part, whether that is as a diner enjoying fantastic food at tasty prices, or a venue that is getting a real lift from our award-winning Foodie Fortnight.

“That is something which is really important at a time when our hospitality businesses are facing such challenging times. We know people will want to come out and support such a vital part of our city’s culture and economy.

“There really is an astonishing range of venues and dishes on offer, from burgers to haute cuisine, traditional Scottish fayre to food from the four corners of the world, all just waiting for diners to discover and delight in.

“We’ve set the table, ready for a banquet of delights later this month. All that’s left to be said is ‘tuck in and enjoy’.”

Secret Suppers return

The popular Secret Suppers will also make a comeback, with two mystery dining experiences on August 28 and September 3. Diners will not know where they are eating, or what they are being served, until the day of the supper, with tickets priced at £65 per person.

Aberdeen Inspired project manager Shona Byrne said the response from venues had been extremely enthusiastic, with businesses keen to be part of what has become Scotland’s largest event of its kind. Aberdeen Inspired chief executive Adrian Watson said the fortnight offers a timely lift for venues and a chance for diners to enjoy everything from burgers to haute cuisine across the city.
