With Scotland recording their first win and currently sitting top of their FIFA World Cup group, football fever is sweeping the nation, and Aberdeen is no exception.
In the Granite City, SOBR Bar and Events Space is among a host of hospitality venues taking part in Aberdeen Inspired’s Paint The Town Tartan campaign, marking the tournament with a creative drinks offering designed to capture the celebratory mood. However, SOBR is bringing a distinctive twist to proceedings, as every cocktail on its World Cup menu is completely alcohol free.
Focused on inclusivity without compromising on flavour or presentation, SOBR’s carefully curated menu ensures that non-drinkers can fully immerse themselves in the excitement of Scotland’s World Cup campaign. The venue has introduced four bespoke cocktails for the duration of the tournament, each inspired by the host nations, alongside a patriotic Scottish serve.
Representing Canada, a smooth and sophisticated take on a Maple Old Fashioned delivers rich maple notes balanced with warm bitters. The USA-inspired creation offers a non-alcoholic spin on the classic Cosmopolitan, combining tart cranberry with zesty lime and a subtle sweetness.

Meanwhile, Mexico’s influence comes through in a vibrant Paloma-style serve, featuring pineapple, grapefruit and agave, finished with a gentle chilli kick, bringing a taste of sunshine to Aberdeen. Closer to home, the Scotland-inspired cocktail celebrates a national favourite, pairing Irn-Bru with bright citrus and sparkling fizz for a refreshing spritz-style drink.
Kate Kenyon, owner and founder of SOBR, said: “We’re thrilled to be getting behind Paint The Town Tartan and the World Cup here at SOBR. To mark the occasion, we’ve created four outstanding alcohol-free cocktails inspired by the host nations and our own, so everyone can raise a glass and cheer on Scotland in style whether they’re drinking or not.
“It’s been a generation since we’ve had a summer like this to look forward to and we can’t wait to play our part in bringing that buzz to the city centre. Here’s to a tournament to remember, come on Scotland!”
