Duncan Farms, M&S’s exclusive Scottish egg supplier, has been awarded the ‘Only at M&S’ Award at the 2025 M&S Select Farm Awards, announced at the Royal Highland Show on 19 June.

This award celebrates standout supply chain partners who deliver unique, own-label excellence found only at M&S – and Duncan Farms has done just that, from industry-leading sustainability projects to nutritional innovation in every egg.

Duncan Farms, based in Aberdeenshire, supplies 100% of M&S’s Scottish free range eggs. Over the past year, they’ve led two major breakthroughs:

  • A 50% reduction in carbon footprint of eggs (from a 2021 baseline) by swapping imported soy for home-grown fava beans in hen diets
  • The nationwide launch of ‘rich in Omega-3’ eggs through diet enrichment, improving the nutritional value of a naturally healthy food

The business recently invested £7 million in expanding its egg packing centre to support rapid growth. With two new free-range sites launched in the past six months and an expanding network of partner producers, Duncan Farms now employs over 160 people – a 50% increase over the last six years – making it a key rural employer in the region.

Steve McLean, Head of Agriculture and Fisheries at M&S, said: “Duncan Farms are the definition of what the ‘Only at M&S’ Award is all about.

“They’re forward-thinking, committed to sustainability, and constantly finding new ways to deliver even better quality for our customers.

“Their work on carbon reduction and omega-3 enrichment is truly industry-leading – and we’re proud to have them as a long-term partner.”

For the team at Duncan Farms, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword – it’s built into every part of their operation. From biodiversity planting across their farms to ongoing research into hen nutrition and welfare, their ethos is about continuous improvement, driven by data and aligned with M&S’s Plan A commitments.

“We are very proud and privileged to receive the ‘Only at M&S’ Award,” said Rachael Duncan from Duncan Farms. “It’s great to have all the team’s hard work recognised. We share the same values as M&S – a focus on sustainability, long-term growth, and delivering healthy, high-quality food.”
