A NEW Angus restaurant has become only the second hospitality business in the region to be named as a Living Wage employer.

Brechin’s Angus Grill + Larder, which opened in January has made the commitment to pay their team a minimum wage of £9.90 per hour and has been confirmed as the region’s second hospitality Living Wage employer. Situated just off the A90, the eatery has become known for a welcoming team and championing local produce with a menu filled with seasonal produce. Offering everything from breakfast baps to signature burgers and dogs, diners have been loving the restaurant’s approach.

Speaking of the business’ commitment, Managing Director Will Macpherson has said; ‘when creating the business, one of our main focuses was supporting our surrounding community as much as possible. From hiring local team members, to stocking regional producers we want to celebrate the very best of Angus.

We want to acknowledge the effort and hard work that our team put in daily, and this is just one way we show our appreciation.’

Gail Irvine, Living Wage Scotland Manager has said of the accreditation: ‘We are delighted to see Angus Grill and Larder becoming a trailblazer Living Wage employer in the Angus region. Too many workers in Scotland are paid less than the real Living Wage and, at a time of rising costs, are struggling to stay afloat. The real Living Wage can offer protection from those rising costs, and employers who pay the real Living Wage see the benefits in improved recruitment and a more motivated and engaged workforce.

We hope to see many more employers in Angus follow Angus Grill and Larder’s lead by becoming Living Wage accredited.’
