WHERE AND WHEN:
Date: Wednesday, June 19th
Times: 13:00 – 14:00 (Pre-filming options)
Location: Asda Bearsden Superstore, 80 Milngavie Road, Bearsden, Glasgow, G61 2TX
WHAT:
- To support the nearly two million over 65s who are set to watch the football alone this summer, Asda is hosting the first ever ‘Nanzones’ across its stores. The Asda Bearsden Superstore will host a ‘Nanzone’ on the day of the Scotland v Switzerland match on the 19th June.
- Designed to tackle social isolation and loneliness in communities using the power of sports fandom, Nanzones are football fanzones for the elderly. Just as passionate and buzzing as standard football fanzones but designed to be truly welcoming for older football fans.
- They are completely free to enter and enjoy, offering a safe and friendly environment for fans to come in and have a bit of a debate about how Scotland will do in the games.
- In the spirit of true fandom, people of all ages are encouraged to watch the beautiful game at a Nanzone.
- This community campaign follows the publication of Asda’s Togetherness Tracker, which looks at how customers and colleagues want to support their local communities. The Togetherness Tracker revealed that 60% of people surveyed think more needs to be done to combat loneliness and social isolation, with older people called out as the group most in need of support
