Having just celebrated seven successful years in Dunfermline, Dhoom Indian Streatery & Bar in Dunfermline, has announced that the past year has seen it hand over £16,000, its largest total yet, in community contribution to groups, associations, and charities across the area.

Through the on-going support of its customers, the restaurant gathers together a monthly donation, usually around £750 per month, which is then given to a different good cause. Some groups and associations, such as Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park, Carnegie Dojo, and Dunfermline & Carnegie Cricket Club, have now benefitted from the initiative more than once.

Commenting on the yearly donation total, Chef/Proprietor at Dhoom, Daneshawar Prasad, said: “It is our absolute pleasure to give back to our local community, and we are really pleased to have been able to hand over such a significant total in the last twelve months. 2025 has been one of our best years yet, in terms of donating to the causes that matter most to use, but also in regard to winning yet more awards and accolades for the business, including our fourth in a row AA Rosette. It represents one of our proudest achievements to date.”

Other awards for Dhoom in 2025 include Courier Chef of the Year for Prasad, together with the Scottish Curry Awards Chef of the Year. Dhoom was one of only sixteen Scottish restaurants to be listed in the UK’s Top 100 Curry Restaurants, with The Sunday Times Scotland saying it was the best restaurant in Scotland.

“When it comes to awards, the ones that are voted for by the public really mean the most,” said Prasad. “It’s heartening to receive acclaim from other hospitality professionals, chefs and food critics, and so on, but at the end of the day the opinions that matter most to us are our customers who unceasingly support our ever-changing street food menus.”

He continued by saying that: “Giving back matters to us. We know that the money raised is really making such a huge difference. I’d like to extend a personal thanks to every customer that has supported our community gifting initiative at Dhoom. It may not seem much, but when it’s all combined together, we are able to give a really good amount every month, helping charities, and keeping activities going that people enjoy.”

“We look forward to raising a good total again next year, and perhaps we will surpass £16,000. We will just have to wait and see!”

Other highlights across the past twelve months include teaming up with a local musician, Kris Barclay, to compose an “anthem” song celebrating Indian food and culture.

The resultant single, which Dhoom dedicated to the people of Dunfermline, featured “beats, melodies, and lyrics that echo the colours and flavours of India”. It was later streamed by 20,000 people.

Commenting on his current Punjab inspired menu, Prasad said it had “gone down really well,” but that a change was coming in the New Year, “with a new part of India to be explored. “Once again it will be an exciting culinary journey, which is months in the making,” he said.

Prasad ended by wishing his customers a fantastic festive season.

“We look forward to welcoming you if you are coming in over the festive season,” he said. “You’ll be assured of a warm and welcoming, buzzy atmosphere, where good food, great company, and celebration takes centre stage.”

Dhoom will launch a new menu on 3 March 2026.
