Eden Mill, the award-winning gin and whisky producer, has secured planning permission to open its highly anticipated distillery and visitor centre in Guardbridge, Fife, close to St Andrews. The development will feature a working distillery, immersive tours, a café, cocktail bar, retail space, and dedicated event areas, further bolstering the region’s reputation as a destination for spirits tourism.
Work on the new facility, which represents a £17.5 million investment, will create 18 new jobs in the local area and is built on the firm’s commitment to sustainability. The centre is set to be partially powered by solar energy and forms part of the University of St Andrews’ Eden Campus, which is focused on zero-carbon enterprise and innovation.
Eden Mill’s new attraction is designed to welcome thousands of guests each year, with peak summer months expected to see about 1,500 weekly visitors. The site will offer whisky and gin tasting experiences, VIP spaces, and guided tours, with a shuttle service planned for guests travelling from St Andrews.
The approval has been welcomed locally, with councillors praising Eden Mill’s commitment and international reputation. Representing Eden Mill, solicitor Stephen McGowan, said: “This application is many years in the making, I am very pleased after so many years of blood, sweat and tears to finally come before you to seek approval for a new licence.
“It is a really fantastic visitor attraction as well as a working distillery.
“It represents something in the region of £17.5m of investment into the facility and the creation of 18 new jobs.
