One of Edinburgh’s leading breweries has been announced as the official sponsor for the UK’s biggest ever ice hockey showdown, which is being staged at the capital’s Murrayfield Ice Rink on 22nd, 25th and 26th April 2026.

Cold Town Beer is throwing its support behind the upcoming USA vs Canada All Stars showdown, where former North American all-stars will go head-to-head in a one-off night of elite ice hockey.

For the first time, professional players of the National Hockey League will take to the ice in Scotland as USA and Canada NHL Alumni go head-to-head in an unforgettable exhibition series.

This landmark event will bring together some of the sport’s most iconic names for a showcase of elite talent, fierce rivalry, and world-class entertainment.

Cold Town House in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket is the home of Cold Town Beer. To mark the UK’s biggest ice hockey showdown in the capital, the venue will be staging a family-friendly ‘Meet & Greet’ event with NHL Alumni Ice Hockey Stars from 7-9pm on Friday 24th April.

Hosted in collaboration with Scotland Ice Hockey, the special event at Cold Town House will offer ice hockey fans the rare opportunity to come face-to-face with some of the game’s biggest names, including Milan Lucic, Mike Knuble, Bobby Ryan and Scott Darling, who will be sharing their incredible behind-the-scenes stories from their NHL careers.

A live Q&A session with both teams and personal meet and greet opportunities with the players will be available on the night, as well as drinks, pizza and merchandise giveaways.

Ruth Reid, Brand and Marketing Manager for Cold Town Beer, said:

“As a city-born brewery, we’re passionate about supporting the venues and organisations that bring world-class sport to the capital, and this clash is set to be a standout moment on the calendar.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with the Scotland Cup at Murrayfield Ice Rink. Supporting a sport played on the ice — and one we don’t often get to see here — feels like a natural fit for Cold Town. It’s sharp, high-energy and rooted in a setting that reflects our brand perfectly.”

Ryan Bahl, Founder and CEO of Hockey4all, which is organising USA vs Canada All Stars showdown, said:

“We’re so excited to bring NHL Alumni to Scotland for the USA vs Canada exhibition series, which is shaping up to be one of the biggest ice hockey series the UK has ever seen.

“Partnering with Cold Town Beer allows us to create an incredible fan experience beyond the rink, and the engagement at Cold Town House brings supporters together in a way that truly grows the game through a celebration of hockey, partnership, and community.”

Robert Aldridge, Lord Provost of Edinburgh, said:

“This is shaping up to be the biggest ice hockey series ever staged in the UK.

“We’re proud to welcome everyone to the Scotland Ice Hockey Cup featuring USA vs Canada for what promises to be a fantastic matchup – perhaps a repeat of the thrilling Olympic final – and an unforgettable atmosphere.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for fans to see true legends of the game compete right here in the capital. With the free youth hockey clinic being hosted alongside the event, I’m sure the next generation will be inspired to grow and strengthen the ice hockey community even further.”
