Peterhead Harbour set to host thousands for Aberdeenshire’s largest seafood celebration
SeaFest Peterhead will make its much-anticipated return tomorrow (Saturday 13 September) with a bigger footprint, more attractions, and an even stronger focus on celebrating Scotland’s seafood industry.
The free-to-attend festival runs from 11am to 4pm at Seagate, Peterhead Harbour, and follows the success of its inaugural event, which attracted around 10,000 visitors. This year the site has almost doubled in size to accommodate new zones, stages, and activities.

Highlights include the Blue Light Zone, where visitors can meet the emergency services, explore RNLI lifeboats, take a boat tour, and even fly through a windfarm in virtual reality. Children can also enjoy free face painting, sticker trails, giveaways, and a chance to meet water rescue dogs Yogi and Cindy Bears.
Seafood takes centre stage at the SeaFest Main Stage, supported by ESS, with live cookery demonstrations from award-winning chefs and insights from the Marine Stewardship Council. A new Seafood Village will showcase the quality and sustainability of local produce, while festival favourites such as the trawler Favonius will return, selling freshly caught seafood straight from the boats.
The Fisherman’s Pier, sponsored by Seafood Scotland, offers visitors the chance to meet fishermen, board a trawler, and try their hand at navigation in the Wheelhouse Simulator.
More than 80 producers will form Producers Lane, featuring everything from local seafood dishes and international street food to craft stalls and artisan goods.
Organisers say the event is about more than just food. Chairman Jimmy Buchan explained:
“SeaFest Peterhead is a not-for-profit community event that provides an insight into the seafood industry, which is vital to the region and our communities, but is also a great day out for all ages. We want to educate more people about Scottish seafood while providing an entertaining, fun environment to do so.”

“As custodians of Europe’s largest whitefish port, we see first-hand the dedication and skill that drives our seafood industry every day. SeaFest is a fantastic opportunity to open our harbour to the public, celebrate the people behind the industry, and showcase the quality and sustainability of our local seafood.”
SeaFest Peterhead is free to attend, with both cash and card recommended for use at vendor stalls. A park-and-ride service is in operation to help manage visitor numbers.
