New Non-Executive Director brings extensive global beverage experience to Elgin-based specialist.

Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin-based, family-owned whisky specialist, has appointed Maurice Doyle as its new Non-Executive Director. This move reinforces the company’s commitment to strengthening its senior leadership team as it accelerates brand development and international expansion.

Mr. Doyle brings deep experience from senior executive and board roles across global premium beverage businesses. His previous positions include Chief Executive Officer of Compass Box Whisky, President of Incubation Brands and Global Commercial Development at Bacardi, and Chief Marketing Officer at William Grant & Sons. He also served as COO Africa, Middle East and Caribbean at Suntory Beverage & Food.

Maurice Doyle is also the founder of Generous Spirits Ltd, a company where he provides leadership coaching, mentoring, and strategic advisory services. These services are designed to help CEOs, C-suite leaders, and companies scale their businesses while preserving their values, culture, and brand soul.

Commenting on his appointment, Maurice Doyle said: “Gordon & MacPhail is a business steeped in rich heritage and unparalleled whisky expertise. I am delighted to join the board and look forward to working with the team to help navigate this exciting period of growth, building on the company’s strong values, culture, and iconic brand portfolio.”

The appointment of Mr. Doyle follows the recent addition of Jo Coomber as Global Marketing Director. Mark Geary, Chief Executive of Gordon & MacPhail, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Maurice to the Gordon & MacPhail team. He will bring a wealth of experience to our board and business as we deliver our ambitious growth plan. His proven track record in growing premium consumer brands, global commercial development, and strategic leadership makes Maurice the perfect fit as we continue to invest in our brands in key markets around the world.”

His appointment supports Gordon & MacPhail as it looks to maximise the potential of its brands, including Gordon & MacPhail, Benromach Distillery, and The Cairn, in both established and international markets. The company, established in 1895, has evolved from a local grocer to a globally respected name in the whisky industry.
