THE WHISKY Exchange, the world’s leading retailer of premium spirits, will launch ‘The Whisky Exchange Cabinet’, a global marketplace for the buying and selling of rare bottles.
Built upon decades of experience at the forefront of retail technology, The Whisky Exchange Cabinet will utilise smart contracts and immutable Blockchain technology to curate, authenticate and sell some of the most sought-after bottles on earth. These rare bottles will be sourced directly from producers through The Whisky Exchange’s unparalleled network, ensuring the same consistency and quality that has made the retailer so respected.
Each bottle sold through the marketplace will be accompanied by a unique set of assets that authenticate ownership and provide an extra layer of traceability. These assets can also be traded via The Whisky Exchange Cabinet’s secondary marketplace, enabling a simple transfer of ownership made completely and publicly secure via the Blockchain.
Nicolas Oudinot, CEO at The Whisky Exchange, commented, “We keep a close eye on developments in retail as well as the changing habits of our customers. Seeing how the industry has begun experimenting with the Blockchain to help improve authenticity and provenance has been exciting to watch. With our experience, network and credibility in the industry, we wanted to bring something to market that would have as much authenticity in its platform as in its products, something no other marketplace can claim, allowing our customers and producers to embark with us on this new journey.”

The Whisky Exchange has more than 20 years of experience leading the world in retail technology, building on its three iconic bricks-and-mortar stores in London that see thousands of wine and spirits lovers pass through every year. That same drive to meet customers where they are shopping led the business to be one of the early adopters of online retail and today to embrace the opportunity of Blockchain-enabled commerce.
The Whisky Exchange is initially inviting potential customers to register their interest at www.thewhiskyexchange.com/cabinet ensuring the business can meet strict Know Your Customer requirements. The first product release is due to follow in early February 2024 from one of the most famous distilleries in the world.
