Port of Leith Distillery’s Lind & Lime Gin has won Best of Show at the Dieline Awards 2019, singled out from over 1450 worldwide entries, an outstanding accolade for Scottish branding agency Contagious.

The awards ceremony and announcements were held last night (8th May) in Chicago at the eighth annual Dieline Conference and HOW Design Live – an influential and comprehensive package design and branding conference.

Dieline Awards formally recognise the best in consumer product packaging design worldwide, bringing awareness to the immense value that lies in well-designed brand packaging.

A jury of structural packaging, design, branding, and consumer product experts examine each submission with regards to five key elements: creativity, marketability, innovation, execution, and on-pack branding.

James Hartigan, Contagious’ packaging design director was there to collect the award and attend the conference.

He said: “Paying homage to the surrounding historical area where the new multi-million pound vertical distillery is being constructed, the design and detail for Lind & Lime Gin’s packaging is as inspiring to look at as it is in its attitude to achieving Leith Distillery’s long term strategic goals as a company.”

Contagious has worked closely with Port of Leith Distillery from its early days as a start-up, first crafting the Leith Distillery mark and brand story, which was then applied to its first product release – an Oloroso sherry.

Contagious employs 40 people based in offices in Leith and Glasgow, with a fee income last year of £2.3 million. The Contagious team includes design specialists in brand, environments, strategy, packaging, digital and motion graphics.
