A true hidden gem just minutes from Edinburgh’s bustling city centre, Prestonfield House offers a richly atmospheric setting for a summer afternoon like no other.
This season, the iconic 17th-century residence unveils its Summer Afternoon Tea, a vibrant and elegant interpretation of the time-honoured tradition, served in the grandeur of its dining salons or the shade of its tranquil gardens.
Showcasing the freshest flavours and colours of the season, the menu is both playful and refined. Delicate savouries include whipped Applewood cheese on cranberry toast with apricot ketchup and lemon chicken with green goddess dressing, while patisserie highlights such as a raspberry, dark chocolate and rose gâteau or an apricot and pistachio macaron capture summer in every bite.

Buttermilk scones arrive warm with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam, timeless and irresistible. A glass of chilled Billecart-Salmon Champagne sets the tone, alongside a carefully curated selection of speciality teas and artisan coffees. Adding to its unique charm, peacocks can often be seen roaming the lush grounds, with stunning views of Arthur’s Seat providing a magnificent backdrop.
Available Sunday to Thursday from 12 to 6.45pm and Friday to Saturday from 12 to 4pm, Prestonfield’s Summer Afternoon Tea promises a luxurious pause in one of Edinburgh’s most enchanting settings, a serene escape where the season is savoured in style.
