The owners of Murdoch Allan, a popular Aberdeenshire bakery chain, are challenging customers to get down on one knee for a pie-posal over their limited-edition Valentine’s Marry Me Chicken Pie.
Paul and Katrina Allan fell in love over 20 years ago while working side-by-side amongst a haze of flour. The husband and wife duo have been together ever since. They now want to encourage others to show their love through baked goods.
This Valentine’s, the bakery has created the Marry Me Chicken Pie to encourage customers to pop the question and declare ‘Pie Love You’! The Marry Me Chicken Pie, which is available in Murdoch Allan bakeries until February 16 only, features the bakery’s classic flaky crust and is filled with the rich and creamy Marry Me Chicken.
Paul Allan, Managing Director at Murdoch Allan, said: “Meeting Katrina in the bakery can only be described as fate. Ever since then, we have worked together to continue the legacy of my father and grandfather by bringing high-quality bakes to customers across Scotland.
“Together we came up with the idea for the Marry Me Chicken Pie as we wanted to create a delicious product that celebrates love – we know it’s possible to fall in love over baked goods and we want others to experience this too.”
Marry Me Chicken, which gained popularity after going viral on TikTok, is made from ingredients including sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, paprika, cream, and chicken. The recipe is known for being so delicious, that it inspires marriage proposals. If you like a savoury pie, you will love this modern twist on the classic bakery offering.
Katrina Allan added: “We love experimenting with new flavours and ingredients to bring fresh ideas to customers. The Marry Me Chicken Pie is a tasty way to mark the season of love. Who knows, it may even inspire a few pie-posals and hopefully no one gets pied off!”
Murdoch Allan is consistently on the hunt to find new pie flavours. Starting last year, the business has been making a pie of the month which has proved so popular with customers and even led to one flavour becoming a permanent offering. The bakery, which supplies Aberdeen Football Club with their match-day Pittodrie Pie, is also looking to launch a ‘Pie Club’ later this year.
The bakery has shops in Fraserburgh, Hatton, Mintlaw, Peterhead, and Turrif as well as Thain’s in Aberdeen. Last year, they opened their first outlet outside Aberdeenshire after acquiring the Teviotdale Bakery in Dundee. Murdoch Allan also supplies Asda, Aldi, Co-Op Locals, Morrisons, and Sainsbury’s with sweet and savoury products.
Will you say ‘pie do’? Get your hands on a Marry Me Chicken Pie before Sunday February 16.
