Scotts at Largs Yacht Haven wins culinary competition with New Seasonal Dishes

02/09/2024

Scotts at Largs Yacht Haven, a well-known restaurant in Ayrshire, has launched its newest seasonal specials.

These dishes are the result of an inter-venue competition that encouraged chefs from all 19 of its locations to craft innovative side dishes using seasonal ingredients every weekend.

Neil Clark, the Chef Trainer for Buzzworks with over two decades of experience in some of Scotland’s finest restaurants, supported this culinary initiative.

He encouraged chefs across the team to display their skills through a rotating menu of seasonal specials that have become customer favorites each week.

The competition not only inspired the kitchen teams to explore new flavors and techniques but also promoted a spirit of collaboration, evident in each dish.

As a result, Scotts stood out as the top performer, earning a £1,000 reward.

The venue’s Head Chef, Sean Lamont, said: “The team loved the challenge, and it was incredibly motivating, especially competing against such talented chefs in the other venues.

“Each team member brought their own unique perspective, which led to a diverse and exciting menu full of seasonal flavours.”

General Manager Natalie MacKinnon and the Front of House teams were also integral to the process. They participated in tasting sessions, provided feedback, and suggested drink pairings that complement the new specials, ensuring a well-rounded experience for guests.

A leaderboard, updated weekly, kept the competition simmering as teams watched their progress and battled it out for the top spot. Ultimately, Scotts proved they were cooking on all burners and took home the prize.

Natalie commented: “Our team’s dedication and creativity have truly shone through in these seasonal specials.

“The challenge brought everyone together, from the chefs in the kitchen to the front-of-house team, resulting in dishes that not only celebrate the best of the season but also reflect the collaborative spirit of Scotts.

“We’re proud to present a menu that offers our guests something unique and memorable, and we can’t wait to show off our next creations!”

Alongside Scotts, the award-winning company offers an aspirational dining and entertainment experience across Scotland through its other stylish brands – House, Lido, Vic’s & The Vine, The Duke, Thirty Knots, The Bridge Inn, The Fox and Herringbone.

Scotts Largs is open seven days a week. Bookings can be made at www.scotts-largs.co.uk or call 01475 686684.
