As part of her Scottish tour, internationally acclaimed pastry chef Maxine Scheckter joins Sam Heeney-Governo in Crieff for an evening devoted to the artistry of modern Pâtisserie.

Hosted at Love to Cook on Saturday 16 May from 5–7pm, the £15 masterclass celebrates Maxine’s debut book, Pâtisserie Made Simple, with demonstrations of Strawberry Shortcake and Speculoos Caramel Petits Gâteaux — two creations that reflect her refined yet approachable style.

Guests will enjoy an intimate demonstration led by Maxine, exploring technique, flavour and the precision behind contemporary petit gâteau work, while taking home two pastries and having the opportunity to purchase signed copies of the book.

With a career spanning some of the world’s most celebrated kitchens, including The Fat Duck and Sketch, before founding Sugar Flour in Wellington, New Zealand, Maxine is internationally recognised for bringing classical pâtisserie together with modern creativity.

The masterclass marks a meeting of two chefs united by a shared passion for craftsmanship, teaching and the artistry of baking.

“We are delighted to welcome Maxine to Love to Cook during her Scottish tour,” said Sam Heeney-Governo. “Her work is elegant, technically exceptional and deeply inspiring. It is a joy to host an evening celebrating pâtisserie as craft, creativity and shared pleasure.”

Sam added: “This collaboration feels a natural one — a coming together of shared values around beautiful baking, thoughtful teaching and creating memorable food experiences.”

Alongside producing artisan breads, viennoiserie and pastries, Sam curates specialist classes at Love to Cook inspired by her Scottish-Portuguese heritage and years spent immersed in New Zealand’s vibrant food culture.

Maxine Scheckter said:
“I’m delighted to bring part of my Scottish tour to Crieff and to collaborate with Sam in such a beautiful setting. This masterclass is about sharing the joy, precision and artistry of Pâtisserie with passionate bakers.”
