ONE of Aberdeen’s longest-established Indian restaurants, Shahbaaz Tandoori, has created a wine tasting experience with a difference.

Located on Rose Street – adjacent to Union Street, Shahbaaz was established in 1987 and serves a creative menu offering a fusion of contemporary and traditional favourites.

The popular restaurant, which is celebrating two years under its new management, has invited esteemed expert Carol Brown of Wine Uncorked Education to share her decades of expertise with food lovers (Wednesday, June 12th, from 6:45pm until late).

Carol will lead guests through a tutored tasting of different wines, showcasing a range of styles and origins, complemented by a five-course Indian tapas dinner specially created by Shahbaaz owner, Anis Ahmed.

The selection of tapas style dishes will include chatpati chana, seabass kalakar, summer island king prawns, chicken chatkaredar, and lamb qandari. Meanwhile, those with dietary requirements or needing vegan and vegetarian alternatives are encouraged to contact the restaurant in advance.

Tickets for this exclusive event are priced at £60 per person and can be purchased by visiting the restaurant’s website or calling 01224 641786.

Anis Ahmed, owner at Shahbaaz Tandoori, added: “We’re extremely grateful to Carol for her creativity, guidance and attention to detail as we worked to create this fantastic tasting menu and offer a truly unique experience for our guests.

“We have received strong interest from our customers and look forward to welcoming a mix of new and familiar faces for a fun and relaxed evening with a chance to learn from a true expert in her field and experience new flavours.”

Aberdeen’s longest running wine school, Wine Uncorked Education, was established in 1996 by wine educator and writer, Carol Brown. Since then, Carol has offered wine tastings, events, workshops, certified WSET courses and master classes across Scotland to consumers, the wine trade and hospitality businesses.

Carol Brown, founder of Wine Uncorked Education, said: “I’m really looking forward to the event and the opportunity to work with Anis and his team to create an unforgettable experience.

“Each wine will be paired with a tapas sized dish specially selected to complement the wine. It’s a great way to discover new wines, dishes and flavour combinations.”
