In the heart of festival season, Isle of Harris Distillery is announcing the release of an exclusive single cask of The Hearach in partnership with Edinburgh’s Royal Mile Whiskies, one of Scotland’s most respected specialist spirits retailers.

Launching on Friday 15 August, just 225 individually numbered bottles will be available to purchase exclusively at Royal Mile Whiskies. International customers can purchase online via the Royal Mile Whiskies website, with visitors and locals alike able to secure a bottle at the flagship store in the heart of Old Town, Edinburgh, providing another reason to visit the Royal Mile during the Fringe festivities.

This limited-edition bottling of The Hearach has been specially tasted and selected by Royal Mile Whiskies’ expert team in close collaboration with the distillery. Aged in a first fill Bourbon barrel, the lightly peated whisky is bottled at cask strength of 57.4% ABV.

Blender Shona Macleod describes this single cask of The Hearach with notes of crème brûlée and deep caramels on the nose, turning to dried citrus peel and barley sugar, with a burst of mixed florals that mellows into a gentle lavender. On the palate, gentle warm spices of old-fashioned pudding and ginger cake lead to a long and creamy finish with a touch of liquorice and a lingering hint of Hebridean peat smoke.

A limited number of bottles will also be made available to select bars through Royal Mile Whiskies’ trade business, giving whisky enthusiasts the opportunity to sample this special release by the dram at venues in Edinburgh and beyond.

Distilled, matured, and bottled on the Isle of Harris, the exclusive single cask is crafted by the same team of locals behind Isle of Harris Gin and the core Hearach single malt – named after the Scottish Gaelic word for a native of the Isle of Harris.

Megan Geddes, Regional Business Manager – Scotland, at Isle of Harris Distillery, said:

“We’ve always admired the team at Royal Mile Whiskies for their deep knowledge and enthusiasm for sharing exceptional spirits with the world. It’s a pleasure to collaborate with them on this special bottling that brings together our shared values and mutual respect for craftsmanship and community. As the city welcomes visitors from across the globe this August, we’re proud to have this single cask available right at the heart of the action.”

Sam Brabbs, Head Spirits Buyer at Royal Mile Whiskies, said:

“Isle of Harris Distillery has consistently impressed me with their vision and achievements. From day one, they’ve focused on community and craftsmanship, creating something with real meaning behind it. Retailers and wholesalers like us have so many bottles to sell these days, but we’re always drawn to the ones made by passionate people that care for quality of their spirit. Our cask is a stunning example of this – a lightly peated coastal dram with delicious bourbon cask influence. It’s been a joy to work together and we’re proud to offer this whisky exclusively to our customers around the world.”

The Royal Mile Whiskies single cask of The Hearach will be available to purchase in-store at Royal Mile Whiskies, Old Town, Edinburgh, and online at www.royalmilewhiskies.com from 15 August, priced at £94.95.
