Aldi Scotland’s typical lunchbox selection costs parents less than £1.60 per serving

With Scotland’s schools about to open their doors open for a brand-new term, Aldi Scotland has revealed the nation’s favourite sandwich filling, and it’s a big win for cheese lovers.

In a new poll of hungry Scots, the humble cheese sandwich took the crown, edging out a surprise second-place contender in egg mayo. Ham clinched the bronze, proving that when it comes to lunchboxes, the old-school favourites still rule supreme.

The results come as parents across the country prepare for an expected 20% increase in school meal costs, with some local authorities charging up to £579 a year for school meals. *

Thankfully at Aldi, shoppers will pay a fraction of that cost, with a typical lunchbox selection coming in at just £1.56 per serving.

Full of healthy, tasty, Scottish produce, Aldi Scotland’s popular lunchbox staples include:

  • Brown bread cheese sandwich with spread- from £0.46 per sandwich*
  • Homemade Scottish carrots sticks – £ 0.06 per serving (75g portion of carrots)
  • Houmous – £ 0.19 per serving (40g)
  • Scottish strawberries – £0.38 per serving (80g)
  • Brochan Porridge Bars – £0.47 per serving (1 x bar)
