Aberdeen Cocktail Week returns to the city this week, celebrating all things spirited across Aberdeen’s most inventive venues. Larder Magazine was invited to join the official press tour, which set out to sample the cocktail creations whilst meeting the people who designed the drinks behind the bar.

Highlights from some of the Bars

At Fierce Beer, bartender Iain McCool delivered “The Best Day,” an autumnal cocktail blending Absolut vodka, FAIR coffee liqueur, cold brew coffee, vanilla syrup, and Fierce’s own Pumpkin Spiced Latte Ale, finished with a dusting of cinnamon. The venue’s fall-inspired drinks didn’t stop there, as Fierce’s Pumpkin Spice Latte beer is also available for trying. For something zingier, “Soorcery” by Kitty Chan combined Havana Club 3Y/O rum, fresh lime juice, gomme, Fierce Soorveza Lime Sour, and popping candy along the rim of the glass, which added a nice wee kick.

Revolución de Cuba buzzed with Latin energy, where bartender Amanda Suprowicz created the “Havanana Banana.” This cocktail is shaken up with Havana Especial, crème de banane, gomme syrup, lemon and pineapple juices, Angostura bitters, and a foamer, delivering tropical depth and a silky finish.

Revolution’s “Bee and Bloom” by Paddy McWilliams showcased local flavours by featuring Beefeater gin, heather honey syrup, lemon juice, elderflower liqueur and a Chambord drizzle. Those who are fans of honey won’t be disappointed, as it is the perfect balance between floral sweetness and sharp citrus.

At Wild Goose, two cocktails were showcased on the tour, each reflecting the bar’s passion for local flavour and inventive mixes. “Meikle Green” by Fergus Connor puts the spotlight on the finest local ingredients, combining Little Brown Dog Gin from Fetternear, Rucolino Rocket & Citrus Gin from Aboyne, lemon juice, elderflower cordial, cucumber and basil from Montrose for a wonderfully fresh and vibrant drink. Also featured was “Buried in the Apothecary” by Fraser Haig, a comforting twist on an Irish coffee, blending Twice Buried Spiced Rum from Aboyne, espresso from The Coffee Apothecary, and cream from Kerrs in Bridge of Don, a true celebration of the North East’s produce and creativity.
