Dunfermline Restaurant, Jack ‘O’Bryan’s, is in the running for a top trade industry “Oscar” in the Restaurant Of The Year 2025 (Casual Dining) category, organised by Scottish License Trade News (or SLTN as its more commonly known).

First debuted in 1996, when just eight awards were given out, the SLTN Awards are now the premier awards scheme for the Scottish hospitality industry, celebrating the best operations and venues in Scottish hospitality, from restaurants and pubs, to hotels, late night venues and specialist cocktail bars, recognising both local and national operators in every corner of Scotland.   This year’s Awards Night is taking place on Thursday 6th November at The Hilton in Glasgow. Over seven hundred members of the Scottish hospitality and drinks industries will gather to vie for a coveted corkscrew trophy.

The recently announced shortlist sees Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s as one of only two Restaurants to reach the finals for Restaurant of The Year 2025 (Fine Dining Category) up against Five March in Glasgow.

The shortlisting sees a double success for the Coghill family who run Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s, as they have recently found out that their new venture, The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack, which they only opened fourteen weeks ago, has been selected as one of only five Best Newcomer Fish & Chip Restaurants in the UK, in the National Fish and Chip Awards.

Commenting on the SLTN awards, Bryan said: “We are thrilled to once again be a finalist in this year’s prestigious SLTN Awards. They will always represent the benchmark for excellence in our industry. Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s continues to gather acclaim, with my son Jack, heading up the business, and continuing to excel with his pastry skills. He has had an incredibly busy time, as well have, getting The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack off the ground as a new family business for us to run. Winning this award, and, dare we hope, doing the double with a National Fish & Chip Award as well, would be the best possible way of ending a vibrant 2025 for us as a passionate hospitality family.”

Jack Coghill explained that he had once again hosted the judges who came from SLTN a few weeks ago to sample his food and check out the restaurant.

“We’re always pleased to let fellow chefs sample our food,” he said. “If they are impressed, then we know we are definitely on the right track. The food at Jack ‘Or Bryan’s is a real labour of love. A great many of the recipes are family ones that my dad has collected and perfected over many years.”

“The SLTN judges sample a great many very exceptional quality restaurants from right across the country as part of the judging process.”

The SLTN judges described Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s as “a restaurant with a warm and contemporary setting where relaxed dining meets creative flair. This family-run business celebrates the best of local produce, with every dish thoughtfully crafted in-house and shaped by each family member’s unique strengths.”.
