Cromlix and Gleneagles Townhouse Secure Higher Two Key Rating for 2026 Guide
Five Scottish hotels have been included in the MICHELIN Guide’s 2026 Key selection for the UK and Ireland, with two properties receiving the guide’s elevated Two Key rating. The annual announcement, made on 18 September, saw a total of 18 new hotels awarded either One or Two MICHELIN Keys across the UK and Ireland. The guide stated that the accolade is considered the hotel equivalent of a MICHELIN Star, expanding the wider UK and Ireland selection to 138 Key hotels.

Cromlix in Stirlingshire, owned by Sir Andy Murray, and Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh, were both awarded Two Keys. The guide described Cromlix as a Victorian country house that maintains its original character while featuring a “surprisingly modern and colourful interior”. Activities at Cromlix include croquet, archery, and a tennis court, with the seven-table Cradle restaurant identified as a more relaxed dining option. Gleneagles Townhouse received commendation for its blend of “ultra-chic and ultra-Victorian” design.
The guide highlighted access to the Gleneagles members’ club facilities, including a spa located in a former bank vault, and noted The Spence as the hotel’s social hub, emphasizing Scotland’s larder.
The Torridon in the Highlands, Old Course Hotel Golf Resort and Spa in St Andrews, and Edinburgh’s LYLA Restaurant & Rooms each secured One Key.
MICHELIN highlighted The Torridon’s location within 60 acres of parkland beside Upper Loch Torridon, describing the property’s exterior as resembling “something out of a romantic fairy tale” and its interior as having a more contemporary feel. The guide also mentioned its waterside, one-MICHELIN-Starred restaurant 1887, which showcases Highland produce. The Old Course Hotel was recognized for its setting alongside St Andrews’ historic Old Course, with the guide noting the hotel is “actually in play on the 17th hole.”
The guide also referenced the hotel’s Duke’s golf course, spa complex, and modern interiors. In Edinburgh, LYLA Restaurant & Rooms was highlighted by MICHELIN as the smallest of this year’s new additions, featuring only four rooms within a Georgian townhouse on Royal Terrace. Its one-MICHELIN-Starred restaurant serves seafood dishes with “subtle yet complex” flavours, according to the guide.
