Scotch whisky cream brand priced at £28 a bottle, with curling champions Team Mouat as ambassadors

Magnum, described as Scotland’s only Scotch whisky cream liqueur brand, has secured a new deal to supply over 20 Sainsbury’s stores across the country. Magnum Scotch Malt Whisky Cream Liqueur is now on sale at selected Sainsbury’s stores in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Fife, Ayrshire, Stirling, West Lothian, South Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders. For the first time, bottles of Magnum will be available to Sainsbury’s customers for £28 per 70cl bottle (ABV 17%).

Magnum is crafted and bottled in Scotland, combining single malt Scotch whisky with cream. The company describes the product as having smooth, creamy caramel notes playing off single malt Speyside whisky, with a warming ginger afterglow. Magnum’s packaging uses a stainless steel flask container rather than glass, which the company says is reusable, recyclable and keeps the liqueur chilled without the need for ice.

Magnum’s cream production facility is located in Kirkcaldy, Fife. In partnership with logistics provider QAS, the product is distributed across Scotland, the rest of the UK, Canada and South Africa. The company said its automated technology means around 40 bottles of Magnum per minute are produced on the line. Edinburgh-based Hemisphere Brands is the global brand agent for Magnum, managing the brand from production planning through to market entry strategy, sales, marketing and distribution.

Lee Schofield, Director for Magnum, said: “It’s a really exciting time for Magnum. Not only have we established the brand as Scotland’s only Scotch whisky cream liqueur, but we’ve reinvented the traditional cream liqueur and created an innovative and sustainable solution to how it is packaged and presented. By teaming up with Sainsbury’s, we’ve carefully selected key retail outlets to help reach local communities across Scotland. Our vision for Magnum is uncompromising and our ambition is straightforward. We craft a premium cream liqueur that contains the finest single malt Scotch whisky and only single malt made right here in Scotland. Provenance, premium ingredients and sustainability remains at the heart of everything we do.”

Scotland’s world champion curling stars, Team Mouat, are the official faces of Magnum’s new partnership with Sainsbury’s. The team includes skipper Bruce Mouat, Hammy McMillan, Bobby Lammie and Robin Brydone. Lee Schofield added: “Team Mouat is an amazing group of guys, who really embody the spirit of our nation. As Scotland’s curling world champions, we think they’re the perfect ambassadors to represent the Magnum brand and curling across Scotland, including our new partnership with Sainsbury’s.”
