THE Witchery – one of Edinburgh’s most renowned, bucket list destinations for food and travel lovers – today announces it has been recognised as the ‘Best Restaurant with Rooms Scotland’ at the AA Hospitality Awards, held last night on Monday 25th September 2023 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel. Introduced in 2017, the AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year award recognises an AA-rated guest accommodation that is also a leading dining destination.

Winner of this prestigious prize, The Witchery – owned by James Thomson, Scotland’s best-known restaurateur and hotelier – is the most spectacularly atmospheric dining destination in Edinburgh. The stunning décor, unique antiques, legendary food and award-winning wine list, which features over 600 wines, has ensured The Witchery has become a much-loved, iconic establishment. Located just off the Royal Mile, The Witchery invites guests to indulge in the rich baroque surroundings of the original oak-panelled dining room or amongst the elegant candle-lit charms of the Secret Garden dining room.  Renowned for its exquisite menus, The Witchery boasts delicious seasonal menus curated by Head Chef Douglas Roberts that showcase the very best of local Scottish produce from land and sea.

Home to nine theatrical and lavishly decorated suites with gothic glamour and stunning views, The Witchery allows guests to experience indulgence and luxury like no other – perfect for those looking to stay in the most opulent of settings right in the centre of historic Edinburgh’s Old Town.

A highlight for the hospitality industry, the AA Hospitality Awards recognise the best hotels, restaurants, pubs, B&Bs and campsites across the country. The annual event invites the leaders of British hospitality to celebrate the UK’s best establishments with over 1,000 distinguished guests from across the industry.

James Thomson, Owner of The Witchery, commented: “I am thrilled that The Witchery has received such a prestigious award as Best Restaurant with Rooms in Scotland –  it really is a true honour and a fantastic homage to all of the incredible team that demonstrate hard work and dedication at The Witchery everyday.”

Whether guests stay or dine at The Witchery, it promises to be an unforgettably magical experience. The Witchery is open all day from 12 to 10.30 pm, seven days a week.
