As summer settles over Highland Perthshire, Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery is inviting whisky enthusiasts to explore a new expression inspired by both Scotland and Portugal. The distillery has launched ABERFELDY 24-Year-Old White Port Double Cask Finish Single Malt Whisky, a limited-edition release available exclusively from its Aberfeldy home.

Part of the distillery’s Exceptional Cask Series, the new expression draws together two regions renowned for their dedication to craft. Since 1898, ABERFELDY has produced whisky on the banks of the River Tay using traditional methods, while Portugal’s Douro Valley has long been celebrated for its distinctive fortified wines. This latest bottling seeks to marry those two legacies in a single, refined dram.

Matured with the influence of carefully selected White Port casks, the whisky introduces a fresh dimension to ABERFELDY’s signature honeyed style. The result is a bright, elegant profile, offering notes of ripe orchard fruits, honeyed apricots, citrus blossom and soft vanilla, designed to evoke the warmth and vibrancy of the summer season.

Stephanie Macleod, Malt Master at ABERFELDY, explained the thinking behind the release: “The choice of White Port casks was a deliberate one. Port cask maturation is often known for bringing a lively character to whisky, but White Port offers something particularly fresh and vibrant. Rich in notes of citrus peel, stone fruits and delicate nuttiness, the casks complement rather than overpower ABERFELDY’s signature honeyed style, creating an expression that feels bright, elegant and perfectly suited to the season.

“With this release, we wanted to capture something unexpected: a whisky that retains the depth and refinement expected of a 24-Year-Old Single Malt while introducing a brighter, more expressive character through the White Port finish. It is a whisky that transports you, offering a taste of Portugal through the lens of ABERFELDY craftsmanship.”

The launch also highlights the distillery’s ongoing exploration of wine cask finishing. Building on previous releases featuring Tuscan red wine and Cadillac French wine casks, the new expression demonstrates how carefully selected casks can enhance and elevate ABERFELDY’s house style while showcasing its versatility.

With just 252 bottles available, ABERFELDY 24-Year-Old White Port Double Cask Finish will be sold exclusively through Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery and its online shop from 7 July, with an RRP of £350. Visitors to the distillery can also sample the whisky at the Distillery Bar throughout the summer, priced at £13 per dram.

Please enjoy ABERFELDY responsibly.
