New students can claim a complimentary breakfast at stores nationwide during freshers’ week.

Bakery79, a family-run bakery chain with 15 stores across the UK, is providing new university students with a free breakfast bap during freshers’ week. The offer is available to students at its stores nationwide, spanning from Bournemouth to Dundee, and is limited to 100 free breakfast baps per store while stocks last.

Students can choose from options including bacon, sausage, omelette, and veggie sausage baps. To claim their complimentary breakfast, individuals simply need to visit a participating Bakery79 store and present a valid student ID or proof of enrollment.

The giveaway coincides with thousands of young people embarking on their university journey, a period when research indicates 61% of students experience homesickness during their initial weeks. Financial concerns are also prominent, with 73% of students reportedly worried about the cost of living before arriving at university.

Hemant Tandon, co-founder of the bakery, commented on the initiative, stating: “Starting university is a huge milestone, but those first few weeks away from home can also be pretty daunting. We wanted to do something small to make that first week a little easier, so a free breakfast felt like the perfect way to help.”

Students from various institutions can claim the offer at participating Bakery79 locations, including those attending Newcastle University and Northumbria University in Ashington; University of Lancashire in Blackpool; University of Dundee and Abertay University in Forfar; University of Staffordshire in Lammascote, Stafford; Buckinghamshire New University and Brunel University London in Maple, Marlow; University of Surrey, London South Bank University, Croydon Campus in Mogador, Lower Kingswood; Henley Business School and University of Reading in Regatta, Henley-on-Thames; Oxford Brookes University in Rodbourne, Swindon; University of Northampton in Rushden; Oxford Brookes University and New College Swindon in South Marston, Swindon; Durham University in Thinford North, Ferryhill; ARU Peterborough and University Centre Peterborough in Westside, Peterborough; Bournemouth University and Arts University Bournemouth in Wimborne; students travelling to London universities from Wrotham Heath, Sevenoaks; and University of Kent in Yeoman, Maidstone.

Beyond the freshers’ offer, Bakery79’s stores serve freshly made breakfasts, pastries, sandwiches, pizzas, coffee, and sweet treats. The bakery also features its new ‘Summer of ’79’ menu, a collection inspired by British flavours such as Parma Violets, Drumsticks, and Jelly Beans.
